Marching into the Past

The legislative session is well under way and the current Majority in the State House are steadily marching into the past, beating a broken drum. Attempting to take us back to the failed Brownback days. A flat tax to help the top 3% of Kansans (their donors), refusing to pass Medicaid Expansion that would help keep our rural hospitals and clinics open ( we have already lost 10 small rural hospitals due to financial troubles that could have been avoided with Medicaid Expansion), pushing bad legislation on vaccines that may cost lives or lead to sever illness for our children. And worst of all, the party that claims to be all about liberty and home rule, is playing the BIG government card attempting to pass laws limiting the authority of city and county governments from deciding what is good for their communities.

We don’t need interference by out of state groups and think tanks. What is good for Florida or Texas is not necessarily good for Kansas. We don’t need a legislature beholden to special interests. You can not go back, although some may think the past was better, the reality is it was not, we need look to a brighter future. We need common sense measures grounded in Kansas values to lead our state into the future not the past.
