As allusive as the northern lights in Kansas. I was beginning to think that my opponent was like the aurora and might never be visible except under special circumstances, when after three attempts, she appeared on the third. It was a pleasure to be able to at least partially point out the differences in our thinking. She stated that she had knocked thousands of doors and not one person ever mentioned the need for Medicaid expansion in Kansas. In reality, I personally placed dozens of letters form the district, in her hand at her office in the statehouse, in support of Medicaid expansion, during the last session. Her response to me was an acknowledgement of what people wanted, but she did not. And she continued to vote against helping over 150 thousand Kansans and recited the party line of excuses.
My opponent has talked about her commitment to protecting peoples rights, yet she consistently voted against women’s reproductive rights. She talks about funding our public schools, yet she consistently votes against public schools. She talks about protecting people while voting against public safety. My opponent won her seat by being unopposed in the last election. No one was given a choice. I hope to be that choice.
